COURSE TITLE: Theatre Intermediate
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Beginning Theatre, plus teacher recommendation. .

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
· Use body language to express human motivations.
· Generate improvisation based on given situations.
· Execute choices while applying basic acting fundamentals of projection, articulation, and vocal expression, to the performance of original and interpreted established literary texts.
· Execute work in collaborative groups.
· Craft adapted scenes.
· Analyze dramatic literature and identify the 6 elements of Aristotle.
· Illustrate the technical elements of theatrical production.
· Use simple design elements for formal and informal productions.
· Understand the progression of theatre through the major historic periods.
· Demonstrate proper theatre etiquette for the actor and the audience.
· Generate formal and informal performances, including two required public performances second semester. Rehearsals will be held during our scheduled class time but students must be available to do after school rehearsals, if deemed necessary. Performances are scheduled for March 21-22, 2019.
· Students are encouraged to audition for and to participate in the school musical in some capacity. We will present Nunsense:
the Mega Musical in early March. Auditions wil be held in November with performances in early March. All rehearsals will
be held after school.
· Incorporate current events into simple scenes or improvisations.
· Identify links between storytelling traditions and cultural growth.
· Clarify production techniques (blocking or style) through formal and informal class performance.
GRADE SCALE: Participation average, in class performances, public performances, written tests, projects=70%, Weekly participation, class work, homework, notebook=30%.
MATERIALS and FEE: Single subject spiral notebook, pens, pencils and highlighters. A fee of $10 is suggested to cover the cost of each script for the class play.
MAKE UP WORK: Make up work will be accepted for full credit if it is turned in within five days after a student returns to school. Missed tests must be made up within five days after a student returns to school. Performance work that is missed must be made up within five days after the student returns to school. It is the student’s responsibility to request work missed and to turn in or perform with the above guidelines.
LATE WORK: Late work will be accepted up to three classes after it is due. Twenty percent will be deducted from the total points for that assignment from the day it is due. After three classes, the assignment will no longer be accepted.
